NIGERIAN LONGEST SERVICING SENATOR IS DEAD
One of Nigerian’s most controversial politician and a former Senator, Arthur Nzeribe has been reportedly dead.
The death of the former Senator was confirmed by a family source who requested anonymity, stating that the family is preparing a statement to announce Arthur Nzeribe’s death, which occurred on Saturday evening.
Imo West was represented in the National Assembly by Nzeribe, a First Republic politician. The longest serving Senator from Imo has been ill for some time.
Born on November 2, 1938, and died on May 7, 2022 at 83 years.
Senator Nzeribe became a major player in the country’s financial sector at the age of 22 with providence smiling on him, and he rose to become one of Nigeria’s most powerful and influential politicians, who in 1999, he was elected to the Senate to represent Orlu.
You would recall that in 2017, a picture of the now late Senator emerged online with him sitting with medics around him went viral on social media.
He was elected a Senator to represent Imo West in 1999 but in November 2002, the then Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim suspended Nzeribe indefinitely over an allegation of N22 million fraud.
