

Abba was born in Gaya local government area of Kano State, Nigeria. He attended Sumaila Primary School and later to Government Secondary School Lautai, Gumel Local Government Area (now Jigawa State), where he graduated with First School Leaving Certificate in 1980.
He got admission into the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, where he obtained his National Diploma, ND in civil engineering in 1985, later obtained a Higher National Diploma, HND in civil engineering, and certificate and specialization on water resources/environmental engineering in 1989 from Kaduna Polytechnic, he did his National Youth Service Corps at Kaduna Environmental Protection Agency from 1989 to 1990ll
He is a holder of Post-Graduate Diploma, PGD in management, and obtained master’s degree in business administration from Bayero University Kano.
Abba Kabir Yusuf was the former Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport (Kano State), and in 2019, he contested the gubernatorial election, which the current governor, Abdullahi Ganduje erroneously won.
He is now a member of the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP and is the hopeful consensus candidate for Governor of Kano State. He will slug it out with Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the deputy to Abdullahi Ganduje’s anointed candidate in the APC.
